A promise to a son!
So it all started with a promise back in the winter months that I would take my son Tarpon fishing in the Summer. He has been infatuated with the “Silverkings” since he started fishing. The summer was coming to a quick end and with the heat and the water temperatures up I knew I was running out of time. Well with the help of Capt Zach Rose (of Red Rose Charter Fishing) and Capt Garrett Sheppard we were able to get it done. With only a few days left till my son was to go back to school he caught his first Silverking! It was an epic battle, with my son dancing around the boat at least two complete times. The Tarpon had some crazy jumps and stayed buttoned up. We got the fish boat side and took a few quick pics before reviving the fish for a safe release. All my son kept saying was “Let’s Go”, “Let’s Go”… over and over. He was so pumped!
A few days later, his actual last day before school started, we topped off his “last week of summer” catching an inshore slam of Redfish, Snook, and Seatrout in a single day. So for the week, this little guy caught the Tampa Bay Grand Slam which also included that Tarpon a few days prior. I told him, it always doesn’t work out this way, enjoy it while you can. It was a great last week and last day of Summer for this little guy!
